    NEW SYN CUSTOM SHOP

That’s what I was thinking, Andrew!

    NEW SYN CUSTOM SHOP

That’s hot. Love the switch to the Syn logo instead of the Deathbat, too. A little more subtle.

    accessing the video

Okay, if you could access it from the same computer through a VPN, but not direct, then there are content issues between the site and your country. You could notify the amdinitrators via the contact form with this information. Include your country to help. They may or may not be able to do...

    Music or lyrics first?

Elton and Bernie have always had that arrangement, all the way back to the beginning. It was always strange, but it clearly worked for them. How was the movie?

    Rock am 2019

I’ve seen Godsmack in everything from a 20,000 seat arena to a 1,500 capacity club, and they always kick ass. Funny thing, the last time I saw them was on that small club. My daughter is a HUGE fan, and her favorite song is Serenity, which they NEVER play. She spent the whole week before the...

    Guitar Playing

No, a noise gate is NOT a compressor. With a noise get, you set a threshold of volume. If what’s coming into the gate is of lower volume than the threshold, then it just CLOSES THE GATE and won’t let any sound through. This is especially useful with high gain tones. I have mine tuned just so –...

    The meaty guitar project

Law of diminishing returns. Two or four tracks adds depth and meat. More than that, and the little timing inconsistencies in your playing are multiplied and it winds up sounding LESS defined and sharp and more mushy mess. It’s a good technique for open-chord chorus parts, especially if you...

    Guitar Playing

There are possibilities at every step in your chain, so we would really need to HEAR something to be able to help!

    Where to keep picks

There’s a 3M foam-based double-stick tape that a lot of pro techs use to make picks available on-guitar for their bosses. A fresh piece of tape along the top and you can attach a half-dozen picks for easy access. There are mic stands, like Ids said, that a lot of people use, as well.

    I can't 'like' comments…

One of Papa’s recent threads acknowledged it, and that they’re working on it but it’s tough because a lot of things are interconnected and fixing one issue can created five others.

    Community Riffs!!!!

No guitarist should ever pay someone else to change their strings. A set of basic strings is about $5 US. A cheap string winder, maybe $3. I can walk you through it. If you really only need the one string, most guitar shops will sell ONE STRING for about $1 US. Does the guitar have a whammy bar...

    Community Riffs!!!!

Kelly, what does it need? A lot of work can be done by yourself with a little guidance.

    The Ultimate Reward

I agree, Calvin. I may be dropping a black set of Syns in my Destroyerman if I can get away with it.

Something feedback on my singing please

For #2, I’d be surprised if you’re not self-regulating your volume in your head to match guitar so that it sounds good to you. That’s where a singer’s ego can come in handy – LOL. That comes with practice, confidence, and technique. Melissa Cross has taught proper screaming to a LOT of big-name...

Solo and Bridge from a Song I'm Working On

Some really fantastic note choices in there, and clean playing too. I like it! Like Wes says, I’d like to see you working on a more nuanced and expressive vibrato. I think you’ve grown your other techniques to a point where it’s important to bring that one up to meet them.

Any time, all the time. Thanks for the Synspiration!

    The Ultimate Reward

I really did NOT see this coming, and I know that really NO ONE did. So, one of our own – that you ALL know – is a little shy about something. She’s posted about it on Instagram, and frankly, she got no shortage of anger and jealousy about it mixed in with some genuine congratulations, and that...

What are you currently listening to?

I’ve been loving this band since I saw them about 2 months ago. This was from the actual show I was at. Great band – Parkway Drive.

    Keeping my fingers going

That’s a tough one. Congratulations, and good for you. My middle child is a Marine. Boot was absolutely brutal. It was far and away the hardest few months of his life. On the other hand, my daughter’s fiance is in the middle of Navy boot right now (graduating at the end of the month in Chicago)...

Pretty sure you’ve surprised NO ONE, Dan 😉
