Saturday Practice

After cleaning, laundry, and taking off the dreaded trash lol I had some time for myself. On the video I posted yesterday, @[21204:@Sayonil Mitra] suggested I try to make my palm mutes a bit more powerful, so I gave that a shot. Also, I remembered a riff I learned awhile back is also in the same tuning (I played it on drop d before) so of course I had to play it too ! (Shine by collective soul) Just playing for a few minutes boosted my mood immensely. These Synner Saturday’s were a fabulous idea @[5:@Jak Angelescu] !
Took the time to learn a new riff today. Still struggeling to play the verse but the intro riff is so much fun. Song is played in Drop A#
Happy $ynner $aturday! Hope you're all practicing hard! Here's a few notes from the video: 1. In the Spider Exercise, I gotta work on descending down the strings, I keep missing notes as I do so. 2. In same exercise, constant alternate picking. 3. In my CMaj Scale, need to work on alternate picking. Also, tips of fingers. Next on my radar to work on: -Learning fretboard notes!!! -Working on the next position for CMaj Scale -Practicing more permutations! I have a small tutorial for the Spider exercise if anyone would like it! I can also tab it out for you if you wish, just hit me up! Cheers all!
Nightmare Guitar Cover, this time I used my line 6 Floor POD for distorsion, I think it sounds cool

Scale mods

Hello everyone, Papa Gat s lessons of scale mods helped me a lot, with the help of them I wrote a solo for our song !! and even shot a video))) thanks for the school !!!

SPARKLY NOODLE

This is me noodling with a Sparkly effect on my guitar - I've been experimenting with playing some soulful outside stuff and having the time sort of warped/Rubato. Tried to make my Guitar sound less like a Guitar too, enjoy!
Back in early March (Before COVID19 hit) our House Band at School of Rock Cincinnati had the opportunity to play with Black Sabbath drummer, Vinny Appice (Al...

I did a guitar cover of The Stage by Avenged Sevenfold on my new Schecter Synyster Gates Custom S. Hope you enjoy.
Getting a little dreamy and spacey with some Mew tonight
Solo "The Stage"
Sweep picking solo from the stage 👌
This is a short idea I had while stacking Major/Major6/Major7 & Minor7 chords in a Quintuplet feel, enjoy!
A7x Exist!

A7x Exist!

Happy belated Synner Saturday! Inspired by @[4668:@Alicia Willis] I started to learn the Warmness on the Soul solo. This is just the first half (kinda), it's slow and probably unrecognizable because it's one of the very few A7x solos that I'm not familiar with...so I didn't remember exactly what it was supposed to sound like (I know now tho.). Tried to put some attempts of vibrato 😅 . Posting this as a starting point, I'm determined on getting this completed, whatever amount of time it will take 💪
Well, I still need a day or two for the Syn Tip challenge, but I do have something for Synner Saturday. Today I came across this awesome backing track on youtube which featured the chord progression of Comfortably Numb, so I had to try to improvise a bit over it, because I can't get better if I dont practice, right? Now, David Gilmore is of course the absolute king of vibrato and bending, and I need a loooot of work in both (some of my bends are out of tune as well), haha. Also, my problem which I described in my thread a couple of days ago still persists, I get to easily stuck in a single rythmic idea. I also really need to work on incorporating some of the quicker licks that I already know and practice in isolation (be it pentatonic or natural minor or whatever), but I never really think about it in the moment. But yeah, I think I should start working on the real Comfortably Numb solo in the near future, that will probably REALLY help with the improv as well :D.
not sure if this counts for synner saturdays, i can't find the thread. a few days ago i was kind of complaining about my technique changing drastically in a short amount of time and feared it was for worse. i tried to play one of the guitarpro tracks i could somewhat play a few years ago, couldn't do it, it felt so weird like i had forgotten or lost control of my hands a little. it was concerning and so i took about 4 days off. i guess it was my hands being tired from overdoing it, i had like a 2 year break from music till i rejoined. so what i was working on here was my pick holding, trying to keep my fingers close to the frets and holding the notes as long as possible. i use to play this only down picked except the gallops, now with the economy picking i've been working on it's changing how i play the riffs ( in a good way ) still working on keep a fist and minimizing my movements on both hands. it's weird trying to learn/play songs again, i haven't been doing it for awhile.

Syn inspired solo

For this solo, I was not only inspired by Syn’s technique, but his sense of melody and groove. Written (perhaps unsurprisingly) in the Key of D Minor, I first consulted the second Alternate Picking class in order to work on my note articulation and achieve a sense of fluidity when playing my ascending scale runs. Similarly, the first Sweep Picking lesson helped me enormously in improving my technique. As an intermediate player, sweep picking has always presented itself as a daunting task, but this video in particular helped inspire me to practice my three note arpeggios, laying a good foundation to tackle the more complex arpeggio patterns. The first Minor Blues lesson gave me further inspiration when trying to write this piece, helping me to realise that speed and technical prowess aren’t always indicative of a great solo, but feel, an awareness of the chord progressions you’re playing over and a sense of dynamics are much more important.

Synner Saturday

It’s dark, cold and raining, so a little practice in the PJ’s is in order. I started trying to learn “This means war” last night and quickly got frustrated because I was having a really hard time getting into this groove, but I’m still trying. One little piece at a time 🙃 Missed some palm mutes but hey, it’s a start.

Scream Solo Problem

Hey Everyone, so I'm getting better at this solo, I've just still gotta work on my accuracy. The main problem I'm having right now though is that when I play the 2nd string it sounds pretty weird almost like I'm tapping the fret. I think the issue might be that I'm fretting it too hard so it makes it sound like that. But what do you guys think? I'd love some advice on how to correct this. Thanks!
