Just cleaning you can do with anything - a toothbrush and warm, soapy water (just dipping the toothbrush sparingly in the water), or canned air for dust, stuff like that.

Oh boy. Not an easy thing. It does involve taking the rusty parts OFF the guitar completely. You can ball up some aluminum foil, soak it in vinegar and rub the rust away, or you can get a can of naphtha (nasty stuff) and mix 3:1 with 3-in-1 oil, and soak the rusty parts in it to loosen the...

    How Is Everyone Doing?

It's difficult to get kids to stay in masks anyway, without close supervision, and it wouldn't be long before some dumbasses went around coughing on smaller kids and saying "I GAVE YOU COVID, YOU'RE DEAD!" and freaking people out. My son is doing distance learning. It's by no means ideal, but...

    Psychology of unconventional songwriting

Well, if music had developed elsewhere, there's no guarantee it would develop with 12 equal steps between octaves. Could be six, could be 19. Vai experimented with microtonal stuff - he had a guitar built with notes outside the 12-note range. Let's just say he stopped. :) THAT part, I will...

    How Is Everyone Doing?

Just something a little off with a 50 year old father of adult children being called a "kitten," but yeah, all is well.

    Psychology of unconventional songwriting

Agree with Ids, dissonance is real. Whether it's appealing is a matter of taste. Like all intervals, dissonant notes produce a response in the listener. It's important to note that the "rules" are a result of the response, not the other way around. Dissonance has an air of chaos or disarray. If...

    Any tips on punk songwriting?

Write something catchy. Then make it simpler. No, simpler. Now play it faster. Moar faster. Now write some pissed off lyrics you can snarl and spit out along to it. Preferably something anti-political. Repeat.

DAW is Digital Audio Workstation, and GarageBand is one of them, and perfectly useful for now. The iRig will be a great starter interface. Don't worry about a Scarlett for now - you can do that if you decide to add a microphone.

The Scarlett Solo is a great investment for recording on a computer with a DAW. If that's you're intention, it will be money well spent.

There's very little that can replicate the air-moving "oomph" of a proper tube amp. The emulators come close, but they're not PERFECT. However, they are less reliable, more finicky, and when you have to replace the tubes, it can completely change the tone of the amp. Solid state amps are as...

    Captor X

No, it's more like a massive heat sink with electronics. Running a tube amp without a speaker attached is very BAD for a tube amp. The power soak/attenuator/etc acts like an attached speaker so the tube amp isn't damaged. It also disperses a lot of the power so you can crank the tube amp, but...

Wow, the Sweetwater link William shared has a LOT of great information, and the modern features added to this make it phenomenal! And still for that $550 US price tag.. Something may have just hit my wishlist...

Okay, so this is what's called a "power soak," and this one might be exactly what you're looking for, since it does two things. Being from Two Notes, I'm guessing it does them REALLY well, though now that you know it's called a power soak, there are other options you can look into as well, also...
