I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all of your help in enabling me to get everything required to start learning guitar. I would never have worked it all out otherwise. Your patience was amazing.

Unfortunately I have an exam on Thursday (as long as I pass I will be a registered mental health nurse again eeek) and I've been on placement so I have not had much time to practice but when I do, I absolutely love it.

Anyone debating getting a Synyster Custom S, just do it. I couldn't love mine more. I am really looking forward to the day when I can help others as much as you all helped me.

Hello everyone! I’m still new to this app and also the guitar scene itself in general, but I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out the tone of zacky(specifically like the one in unholy confessions) I have an les Paul and a king v for my guitars. The amp I have is a fender mustang 100W. Please drop any type of preset you have or what you think I should put on the amp in terms of bass,treble, mid, gain and any of the mods within it. Sorry but really don't see the point of staying on a guitar tutorial website where the videos haven't been working for more than 2 weeks. Is there an ETA at all? Or am I moving to JustinGuitar?

Hey everyone. I noticed there's a new speed training tool on the lessons. However, when I select all of my stats and click "OK", after each loop I'm not seeing the speed increase. Does it actually SHOW the speed is increased? Right now I have it just set at 1% each time so I don't know if it just doesn't tell you and it's actually increasing or what. Thanks!

Has anyone broken a Floyd Rose or the Bar during use?

How did it happen?

How durable are they?

What part(s) broke?

If something broke would the entire Floyd Rose need to be replaced?

Could I fit one into a Stratocaster model?

Would you recommend a new or used Floyd Rose?

Maybe you got a story behind breaking the Floyd Rose?

Lastly, are they difficult to mount?

Right now I play the music usually through the speaker and have my amplifier on separate.

So I watched Polyphia’s new song Ego Death and it was absolutely incredible. It sounded amazing and Steve Vai was in it too and did a crazy cool solo and there was one whammy bar trick that blew me away. It was around 4 minutes and 12 seconds in the song. I looked at it slowly and thought it was a sweep harmonic into the whammy bar and staccato. I just couldn’t seem to get it and I was wondering if anyone else might know something about it?

Does anybody know where I can find a Schecter Hellwin Head or stack? I can not find any on Reverb or other similar resale sites. I've been looking for this amp for 3 years now and I'm really hoping some of you can help me find one.

What is your favorite chord progression that you either use a lot or has a big impact on your style of playing? For me that would be the Andalusian cadence (i-bVII-bVI-V), I-iii-ii-vi-vii* or i-III-bVII-bVI

Arm nerve problems manifest as lack of dexterity, numbness, lack of strength.
Ulnar nerve, as far as I remember, refers explicitly to to the ring and pinky finger nerve.



After many months without a problem I must have slept over my arm, woke up this week with my fingers not as numb as other times but weaker.
I can't do barre chords, can't bend strings towards the ceiling, only towards the ground. Still workable, but

Just a general thread, watch your health , I know at times I thought stretching is for 'guitar athletes and tryhards, I'm not doing anything fancy here', and, well, now it's a little difficult to do even the basics

What’s up family? I’ve been playing for about 4 years (sadly) on and off. Typically the way she goes is I play for a bit, get frustrated that I’m not progressing super well despite not practising things that will help me progress, and tuck my guitar away for a month or so before I start it again.

LATELY I’ve been taking it much more serious, signed up to learn from Papa Gates with all you beautiful people, and enrolled in in person lessons to take my playing from “somewhat okay rhythm guy” to certified bad ass! Here is a jam from this morning
Constructive comments only please! I know I have a few bad habits and a long way to go, but I’m not looking back!
Oh and did I mention I picked up MY DREAM GUITAR? I’m loving it!

Hi,
For those with a floating bridge...how many half steps can you raise the pitch before the string hits a fret and buzzes/mutes? For example my G-string (lol) can go 6 half steps (G to C#) but right before it gets to D it hits the frets and becomes a harmonic and then dies out.

I'm not sure how high you should be able to go without hitting the frets...otherwise I would lower my action more but I don't know what ammount of room my floyd rose should have.

I have the custom-s model and I have dead frets and I know it’s a problem with the truss rod but I don’t actually know how to fix can anyone give me an idea or do I just bring it to guitar center

What’s up everyone! I’m back today with more jamming to a little piece of Heaven. Being that it’s actually not a super guitar heavy song compared to most of their stuff, a lot of this is borrowed from players who have done covers before, or “composed” by listening to the track itself. How do I get the best metal tone in my amp

Hello there,

I thought it would be a fun thing to ask... so while playing/writing/improvising how do you visualize the fretboard? What do you see, what kind of "map" you have in your head?
Do you have the root notes and intervals as your base? Or note names? Or triads/chord shapes? CAGED? Scale shapes? Pentatonic boxes? Or something I didn't even mentioned?

I don’t compose before recording typically because I think improvising smaller studio settings strikes a note on your style of music instrumentation.
I do compose before the recording session if it is usually a tighter list to go into the studio with.

For example: graphic design for music is usually the first thing before either composing or recording, and even samples. So I’ll go with those first before laying out any thing worth recording or bulks of notes and writings.

Got really familiar with guitar pro. Programming your own drums is the way to go if you are a solo artist. GarageBand has a decent drummer and you can even makes simple progressions.

So for style I’ll lay it out with either samples or graphics then pick which instrument is best for harboring a tone for either going all the way down the set list or maybe for a really tasty solo being planned to be spawned out for my heavier stuff.

Never like to have a project not being used for more than a month usually.

Post your writing tricks, tone setters, or even striking styles you’ve learned over the course of being in the fam.
I’ll post some examples later just trying to start the thread rn.
