Maintaining My Guitar

So I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I’ve never actually learned how to properly maintain my equipment. I’ve always taken my guitar to a friends music store. But since I’ve started getting into playing live at some local spots I figured it would be a good idea for me to start learning since I’ll probably be traveling with more than one guitar. I’ve talked with my friend and he’s going to show me how they’ve been taking care of my guitar but since it’s a bit of a drive for me to get there I won’t be able to get up there til next weekend. So in the meantime I thought I’d ask for any advice you guys might have for properly maintaining your guitar. I’m not able to make the drive to the store that much so I try to get everything I need in one trip. If there’s anything I should consider grabbing please let me know 😁

Two-way pickslanting

What is two-way pickslanting? I know a little about it. I know that there's two picking motions the downstroke escape and upstroke. How do I practice this technique and can you change the pickslanting motion in between playing something. Like while alternate picking, you play on one string and the next string is to be played with an upstroke so if you were using downstroke escape motion before, do you change it to upwards escape for the upstroke on the next string?

I decided to come back

Hello again! If anyone has noticed or cares lol I’ve been gone for a while from the school but decided as of a few days ago that I’m going to come back

this school took a major toll on my mental health. I felt no one liked or cared about me, that I wasn’t improving, if I didn’t get enough views or comments I was useless. I felt like I could trust no one and that everyone secretly hated me.

im going to be honest at one point I felt like the school ruined my life and I didn’t wanna hear about it or see it again. This community took me to a dark place but I realized I was the one who made it a dark place. I over thought everything and made it all about how many views or comments I got.

i didn’t realize so many people reached out to help me and that the few people who cheered me on are the ones that really matter.

i don’t wanna see the school as a dark place or hard point in life. I wanna come back to learn and just focus on bettering my playing and not caring about view or comments.

im at a point in my playing where I wanna learn theory and Step up my playing and not pump out song covers like I used to. I wanna share my struggles and improvement.

much love ❤️

Headrush Pedalboard

Hello All

Im pretty new to Synner Community and recently acquired a Headrush Pedalboard. I love it so far. I've been playin guitar on and off for years but pretty new to amp modelers in general. I've found a bunch of decent sounding IR's for general purpose and or other artists that I really like, but haven't found any good A7X/Synyster Gates tones yet. Any suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated

The Genious of Lenny Breau

Whaddup Synners!

I know I have been kinda annoying about the master Lenny Breau, but I feel like I am obliged to share as much about him as I can, since he is not much known.

In order to do so, I wanted to share with you some songs of his that I fell in love with:

And if you are curious about him a bit more, here is a link to a documentary that his daughter made about him.

I am by no means a jazz expert, I have not listened to the greats on purpose yet, but they are on my list, but regardless of me not knowing the jazz greats and having them as a yardstick to measure…I have to say that this man was a genius and a source of great inspiration (I believe he actually got me back into jazz and actually gave me a reason to learn it eventually).

Finally my little tribute here, I fell in love with his beautiful technique and by no means am I there yet (I actually feel like a blasphemer by doing this), but someday I want to master this technique as much as I am able in this lifetime.

Does the perfect album exist ?

Today I stumbled across an old "Talk is Jericho" podcast episode from 2017 with Syn and Johnny in which they were on the hunt for the "perfect album". Syn's criteria was that every song on the album MUST be an A list track.

It got me thinking, what is my perfect album and do I even have one. Syn's criteria was a bit stiff imo. For me personally, I think my perfect album would be one in which I do not skip any songs. Sure, I may like some more than others, but even a "B" level track can still appease my listening appetite when its imbedded in a slew of "A" level tracks.

The first album that immediately came to mind was the self titled Metallica album. Yes, the all mighty holy grail that is best known as THE BLACK ALBUM.

I quickly realized though I had a really hard time coming up with any others and really had to think long and hard but I finally came up with a tiny personal list for myself:

Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory (ALL A TRACKS)
AFI- Sing the Sorrow
Sum 41- Does This Look Infected

(oddly enough these three were the main albums I listened to in my early teen years. There's just something about the music from that time in your life that really sticks with you)

Anywho.....

Do you guys have any albums that you consider the "perfect" album ?

Schecter Avenger FR trouble

Hello friends, so i hope everyone is very good, today i decided to bought the Schecter avenger FR, i guess you remember my last thread asking for impressions, with all the ilussion of the case i arrive at my home and start plaing the guitar i was testing the Floyd Rose but i noticed my E string felt really lazy and when i use the FR it was the only string that get out of tone really bad, i tried to not pay so much attention to it but then surprise mf, my D string pass out lmao, so i saw the shecter page and i notice that a pice of my guitar whas missing, searching in google it says it's a pice called retainer bar, i'll post you images

So i took the other image to show you how it appears in the scheter page, also it look like that in the page of the store where i bought it, so i text them to make the claim but then they told me that the guitar was complete, and they proceed to send me a picture of one guitar that they have in the store, and here is where the situation makes no sense to me, i post the image that they send to me...

As you can see the letters that says the reference of the guitar dosn't match with mine and neither with the schecter page here i think this is an other version of the Avenger SGR idk if there is anyone else i guess not let me know, after they send me that picture i told them that the reference doesn't match at all and i was thinking that they were confusing the guitar, the girl of the store told me that the SGR guitars don't have the retainer bar but i don't think so because in the schecter page it appears with it as you could saw in the second image i send... so i don't really know what to do i text them but they leave me on seen 💔 i'm going to the store tomorrow to see what happen, i would really apprecciate if you could tell me if in fact that bar is called retainer bar and what is the function of it in the guitar, i want to have some argues to make the claim so i would apprecciate the help, also i want to add that this is the unique store in colombia that is a official distribuitor of schecter before you said to me it was a scam lmao, sorry for the loooong history but i need to free my self of this desgrace, i'll be watching all your recommendations for tomorrow and once again thanks for the attention, and if you ask me... no i don't regret buying a FR even when i only used it like 2 hours lmao

Performing Live

So I’ve recently made the decision to start playing some songs live and I’m wondering if there’s anything that might be a must have when it comes to equipment? I’m not expecting my first few shows to be perfect but I at least want the songs to sound good. I’ll be performing by myself and will be performing the rhythm sections to the backing tracks of some of my favorite songs. The main scenery I’ll be hitting up will be smaller gigs at bars and open mic nights for starters. I have a 75 watt Fender Mustang amp but there’s gotta be more that I should bring in terms of sound. Like I said I know I’m not going to be perfect but I at least want the music to sound good and I know very little about sound.

Thanks for watching!

Just wanted to add my two cents.
Thanks so much to everyone who tuned in yesterday. Being able to do this with Syn is certainly a dream come true. When we created the videos, we knew it was only half the story. The "dictionary" so to speak. Now we can delve into how to apply the techniques and theory.
I appreciate the family we have all created here and look forward to doing these every month - in addition to my own stream.
As big as our dreams were when we started, this is all turning out better than I ever could have imagined.
Thank you all!!!

Thank you❤️

:synner:Yo Family!

I just wanted to express my deepest gratitude for everyone that showed up today. I had such an amazing time kicking things off with Papa Gates and our lovely host and dear friend, Radu.

I can’t wait to do more of these. We didn’t even scratch the surface of what we have in store for you all. I’m so excited to share my life’s passion with you, piece by piece, note by note.

I’ve been so fortunate to have an amazing father who’s given me a front row seat to talent and experience. I’ve been living a dream having best friends that push me every single day to be a better songwriter, guitar player, producer, performer, and entrepreneur. And the sincere honor of having a family as devoted to each other as you are, is pure heaven.

Let’s keep the passion going Synners, let’s share with each other, learn from one another, and continue to build Synner into the greatest community in the world.

All my love and gratitude,

SYN
:synner:

P.S. Papa Gates is comin at ya with his first song from his new blues record I produced. It’s fuckin killer and I can’t wait for you to hear it at his stream in 2 weeks.
LFG🦾:papa-x: 🦾

What is your "Everest"?

I've been thinking a lot lately about guitar goals, and what I aim to be able to play in a certain amount of time (SMART targets if you will) and it got me thinking!

What is your "Mount Everest" in guitar playing? Could be a technique, could be a solo, could be a full song, but I'm interested to know what you consider currently an unreachable peak that you would love to climb one day.

For example, if I could ever play Minor Swing by Django Reinhardt (even with all my fingers!!!🤯) then I could happily say I've reached my peak in playing.

💜 Helping one of ours 💜

Hello everyone!

Our dear @Alicia Willis is going through something difficult. As stated in the link below, her mother, Stephanie, has suddenly been diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. I won't go into more details as I'd rather let her own words tell things how they are but all I want is to show some love and support to Alicia because I believe we all love her so so much and I believe that in time like these it's important to be there.

After all we are the Synner family. We're there for each other and we're all in this together. Please consider donating and/or showing some love! 💜
