Beginners Corner

Feel pressured or nervous to put your beginning accomplishments up with those shredding out 32nd note sweeps? Firstly, you shouldn't. Secondly, this place is just for you! This is the BEGINNERS spot where you can feel comfortable posting your first riff, song, whatever!
I’ve been working on this off and on for awhile. There were several spots where my timing was awful and certain techniques I couldn’t do. Using lessons and exercises here I’ve finally got it where I’m happy with ! 😁
So I've finally decided to practice standing up using a strap. :D This is also my first video with my new Solar E1.6FBB, had this guitar for two weeks now and I love it sooo much already. It is quite heavy (like 4.5 kg), so practicing for one hour standing up feels a bit hard on the neck and back, haha. Anyway, Enter Sandman rythm with backing track :D.
The husband wanted to play this together. I thought it was something I could not do but I’ve been working on it. I had a better take from my practice video but decided to share the not so great take because that’s real and how I’ve played it 90% of the time. I’m definitely having issues with the notes on the higher frets because I’ll be honest, the frets are small and my fingers are chubby lol. But I’m sure it’s just a matter of muscle memory and I’ll land those notes perfectly in no time ! Hopefully next video with be the hubs and I playing together ! He is learning a different guitar part for this song so fingers crossed we can make beautiful music together ! ❤️
ok so, I know I said I wanted to do power chords (and I will!!!) but the tutorial for this solo popped up on my YT feed and felt like giving this a try. This is my very first attempt at soloing, never done that before....how the f*** do you guys do this??😅😅 help me please 😂
I posted a part of this solo some weeks ago. Since then I've been working on it in and out, because I wasn't feeling totally comfortable when I tried to speed up. I decided to stop practicing the solo and include some picking exercises in my practice routine to strengthen my technique a little bit before trying to speed up again. Now I'm back on track again and feeling much more confident. It's still sloppy, but I keep trying. Any constructive critics to help me improve on this are welcome
Die mf die (Dope) Covid has definitely made too many changes in our lives in a short time. This is how I relieve my stress in case someone is interested. The song is specially dedicated to the mf virus
Progress update ! Excuse the screeching, I was late coming into the chorus and singing helped me get back on track a bit. Also, I really want an acoustic amp, but I think you guys can still hear me okay. There’s a few spots I stop playing and start again, fingers got a little crampy haha.
Tried for the first time to play standing up, well...I have to work A LOT on this 😂 It felt super weird and some chords turned out sorta palm muted, messed up a lot too. But yeah, this is my first attempt, it can only get better from here! Have a nice Sunday SGS fam 🖤
Haven’t felt like play lately but started learning this last night a little bit today. It’s one of my Favorite AIC songs and kind of fitting for the moment. Wanted to share progress and also upload to keep myself accountable and to finish what I’ve started. As always, constructive criticism is welcome. A few things I’ve noticed already: I know my timing is off right now (just trying to get the right notes and fingerings) I have a hard time transitioning from the E minor chord to the F power chord, and at times I’m not pressing the strings hard enough (got lazy with the electric I suppose lol) and that slide is wonky haha. Also, I’m not sure of the strumming pattern but I’m going to watch some live videos and see if I can get it.
Just the Rhythm parts. Starting to work on the solo, assuming I can learn it.. :)
Okay I’m about to make an ass of myself but it’s okay I had fun and I know we all do this shit when we are alone 🤣 And as always, the most ridiculous face I made in the video is the thumbnail ! Anywho, first time actually playing this song all the way through without too many fuckups. Yes, it’s a simple song but every time I tried before my timing was also way off in some spots. Also, it felt awkward not playing during the verse so I lip synced....and that’s hella awkward but hell, we all do it right ? 😬 It’s better than the other video where I actually sang....I attracted many stray cats that time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I shared this to my insta, but figured I’d share here too. It’s the 20th anniversary and I had this old video. This is one of my favorite songs from the Hybrid Theory album! Finding this video makes me want to revisit it and see how I’ve improved ! 🤘🏻
My face in this video is like " 😒 " because I have been playing this song for an hour and didn't get the results I wanted today. It happens, I guess. Happy weekend fam 🖤

Spooky Nostalgia

Who doesn’t love 90’s Nostalgia with a little guitar and Uber cheesiness ? 😆 Today’s been a shit day, so I (Poorly) made little something! It did it’s job and made me feel better so enjoy this cheesefest ! Curious if anyone knows what it is before they get to the end 🤔 This little bit was also quite the stretch and made me use my pinky so yay for that !
I posted this solo earlier on Instagram and as always the Queen Cat of the school @[5:@Jak Angelescu] had her words of wisdom !!!! So, for the Queen, I bow and play to a backing track 😉 For all of my fellow beginners, when this woman gives you advice, take it and run with it !!!! I know I’m awful about using a metronome because I hate that damned clicking sound, BUT I can do a backing track and I really should use them more often ! Thank you Jak for reminding me again ! I really have to make it a habit ! No more playing with just myself ! 😃
As my anniversary approaches I decided to make a little collage of my progress thus far. Thanks to this amazing site I’ve learned so much and grown and become more confident in myself ! I’ve still got a long ways to go but I’m proud of myself and wanted to share. If you’ve made it this far (because lots of people don’t read lol) let’s play a game ! Name the riffs/songs I’ve played ! (The three originals don’t count obviously 😉 ) Keep rocking you guys ! I cannot wait to see what the next year has in store for all of us ! 💪🏻
Putting more effort into practicing solo's along with lessons, so I'm starting with The River! Here's practice from the past two weeks on it. I feel the hammer on's towards the end of the solo is a little outta control still. A little bit more work, but it's getting to a point that feels good to me.
It’s been a few months since I’ve played this. I’ve gotta better with my alternate picking as well as vibrato (and a little more confidence in myself) so I wanted to revisit my first A7X solo attempt ! 🙂

Enter sandman intro

This is an old video, before I used a metronome
I've been working on the intro, chorus, and verse so here is my progress so far (its not super clean so ignore my mistakes, I just wanted to post a video of my progress so far). This week I'm going to work on cleaning it up. My broken pinky really really is a bummer especially trying to hit that 2nd chord in the chorus. I'm also working on learning the 1st solo then I'm going to move on to the 2nd. Hopefully I will be able to practice it enough to have a good submission for the contest! Any advice or critique is welcome! This is my first time learning a EVH song so I know it doesn't sound super awesome but I'm working on it :D
Ok so, this morning I didn't feel like practice my barred chords and decided to mess around a little and try a Van Halen riff 😂😂😂 You can laugh at me 😂 But seriously I wanted to also post this because maybe there are others "absolute beginners" that feel intimidated to post something (like I was) because they don't feel like they're good enough....well guys, we have to start somewhere and we can just get better, and this community is wonderful and will never put you down but will always try and help! Now, back to laughing at my video 😂😂😂😂 (also, sorry for that something blocking a little the view of my guitar I hadn't noticed 😅)
HTTK Cover (For Jak, Syn, and Papa)
Can’t believe I didn’t post this here! Here guys! I’m so proud of where this is nowadays.
This video is more about words of encouragement than it is my playing. If you take the time to watch, I hope my words help at least one you guys. 💕 “It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon”
Ok, this one might be a little bad...but I got some feedback I totally agreed with when I posted it to the forum 🤣 P.S. I know the whammy and bend weren’t too good, but I tried and got uncomfortable
