Beginners Corner

Feel pressured or nervous to put your beginning accomplishments up with those shredding out 32nd note sweeps? Firstly, you shouldn't. Secondly, this place is just for you! This is the BEGINNERS spot where you can feel comfortable posting your first riff, song, whatever!
I spent the last week practicing and memorizing the C Major scales/triads from Bill Hudson's class. I think the next phase for me is to start moving in and out of different positions while staying with the metronome.
@[477:@Ids Schiere] metal poll inspired me to try some Pantera stuff and this Fucking Hostile is great to practice a fast heavy powerful rhythm. I can barely go 80% so far and I'm not sure if I'll ever make it to 100%, but I have to try :)
Just a simple exercise playing Arpeggios over a simple I7 - IV7 - V7 Blues progression.
Sunday Funday ! Lol. Haven’t practice in several days due to some shoulder pain. It’s better now so I’m back at !

Challenging myself

My Sharona (The Knack) solo. This is one of the most catchy rock tunes I know. I learned the rhythm some weeks ago and then started the solo, building up spe...
Trying to get the groove from the riff and nail it standing up. There's always some wrong note....
Still at it ! I tried to use as much vibrato as possible for my fingers. Idk if I can do anymore 🤣 Too much ? Too little ? Let me know ! Y’all are going to be sick of this song by the time I finally get it right 😅
As per @[1427:@Ed Seith] ’s suggestion, I’ve tried some alternate picking. I think I’ve done it in all of the place that make sense for it, please correct me if there are other spots I should do it. I also took @[477:@Ids Schiere] advice and tried to add more vibrato.
Figured I should probably try it with the backing track and standing up....😬

I think I only upload files here on my practising, so I thought it was time for a little cover part Im currently working on :)

fade to black riff

one of my goals this week ;)
I can honestly say this is the most confident I’ve been playing. It’s not perfect, but I’m damn proud of it 😊 Hammer on’s/pull off’s and slides are definitely getting better I think.
Hey all. Lesson 50 inspired me to do a 10 day workout program focussing on triads of the major scale (for now: G Major). In the lesson, PG plays the arpeggiated triads of the chords within the key of G major staying in one position of the scale (a CAGED position, not 3NPS). The seven basic triads of the key are: I: G ii: Am iii: Bm IV: C V: D vi: Em vii°: F#dim The workout idea is as follows: Day 1 - All triads within first position, ascending backing track Day 2 - All triads within first position, descending backing track Day 3 - move to next position, repeat The goal is a melodic exploration of the keyboard, not timing or speed... other exercises are for that. At least for now! After the ten days, the workout can continue in various directions: Start mixing between the positions, start including extensions like 7 chords, start exploring different keys... The overall goal lies in gaining a deeper melodic understanding of the keyboard.
I wanted to find a track with everything but the acoustic, but couldn’t find that so I had to settle for just vocals. Thought this might be a fun way to practice rhythm. 😁

“45”- Shinedown

Definitely some mistakes in here, but it’s getting there

latest progress video

It's been a year since I started posting on IG to track my progress on guitar and I was watching some old posts. One of them was this 1st solo of Fade to black. This is a video comparing one year ago with the last one I posted here. I want to say THANK YOU to all of you that have been helping here, because the progress shown here is because of you guys :)
So here I was....watching Netflix....and practicing scales...and Boom! This D mixolydian scale run flew by! I read before that to play fast one hast to be super relaxed...and wow...it seems to work! This is the beginning!
Got my first skype lesson with a teacher and got some homework :)
From having to alternate pick a part, to actually being able to do it correctly with a continuous hammer on/pull (even if it’s not perfect) 😃
Again...still working on it. Not nailing it, but getting a bit closer I guess...
I recently started to try “one” by Metallica. I’m sure I’m not the only one whom when practicing I mess up and I just start all over. I decided to practice with the recording so I wouldn’t start over and have to fumble my way through. Idk if this is a good idea but for me I felt it made me really think about the song and the rhythm and know where to come back in after I messed up time and time again. So many perfect videos are posted, I wanted to showcase a not so perfect one. One of someone really trying to feel their way through. I got frustrated, but with the song playing and hearing the lead guitar I felt the need to jump back on even if it was shit and only for a second. I felt the need to keep going !
Hi all Been practising on my palm muting with this song. Im pretty happy with the result. But as always open to advice to become better :)
Hey all new member here. I stumbled across this school whole searching for finger picking and sweep picking techniques. Been playing self taught for a few years (took about a year of lessons in grade school but then didn’t play seriously). Love A7x and just got my custom S last week. Started finger picking last week also and this is my progress with the buried alive intro. At first I couldn’t figure it out at all but I’m getting there. If anyone has good fingerpicking practice things/songs they could suggest I’d take all advice. Next I’m gonna try to learn is broken by seether.
