My second attempt at the short instrumental track “Horn” by the late great Nick Drake. I’ve been listening to him religiously for years and feel incredibly inspired to start really taking the deep dive into his songs from a guitarists stand point. Learning his songs and techniques, which are most definitely not simple, so it’s a bit intimidating and outside of my wheelhouse. There’s a couple little uh oh here and there but not too shabby imo :) Using my Martin mini as it’s the only Martin I currently own, but I wouldn’t feel right to play Nicks music on anything else haha.

2 things. One I completely lost my place on what chord was what when I went down the fret board half way through the video...so I focused on staying in the g minor scale for the most part. And 2... I also realized a couple things about how you can find the relative minor arpeggio in the same position as major. I'll link the twitch video in the comments.. its longer as I second guess myself plenty of times in the video when I was right all along. But I did make some mistakes that I have to fix on paper but I know them in the video.

im doing an instagram series where I play through Avenged songs that I haven't played in over 10 years, or never at all. THis weekends was remissions. I spent hours learning as much as I could to get a solid play through. I wont link all of them here, but this one I had fun playing and was one I struggled with before so felt proud to play it this time round.

So after our discussion last night, I took the suggestions of curling my fingers more, being more on my finger tips, and playing one note at a time. And as suspected, I'm muting some strings. My fingers aren't as limber as normal people, due to any number of factors...and I'm doing stretching exercises when I practice. Is there anything I can do? Also, any advice on smoothly switching between chords would be amazing...I have to stop and think and then play the chord.

This perfectly illustrates why bending and vibrato control is way more important than shreddage ;) Had to throw in a little original solo at the end of course!

Sometimes when you feel a certain way, you just have to go LOW. Down to F to be exact. Learned this riff in 20 minutes cause I felt like it, so don't be too hard on me :P

I always liked bon jovi a lot so o figured I'd learn one of their songs.

Been working on it during the week. I would say the faster parts in the middle of the solo sound a bit cleaner than in the first video. I'm definitely feeling more confident playing these parts. Btw, I didn't tune the guitar before recording and it's a bit out of tune, sorry about that, but I didn't have time to make a new video and I pretty much liked the take. Anyway, there's still some work to do...

Learning the Am and E Major but can’t hear any difference from Em to E Major. What am I doing wrong?

Spending quality time with my acoustic and I think that Jimmy Page's acoustic work is underappreciated. I'm still working on the transition between the first and second part, so I paused the video. That's why there's a skip. I've come a long way in 2 days.

The road to the level I want to play is long but I'm pretty happy with this and had a lot of fun. I ended up strumming basically on the neck (don't know how or why😂) but chose this take anyway because I liked it better than the other one I have 😬 as always, tips are more than welcome! 🖤 Happy Weekend 🥂

Intro - Verse - and struggling with the pre chorus

I haven't uploaded something for a couple of weeks. I have been feeling a bit more creative with my improvisation lately, but it's still lacking smoothness and fluidity and confidence. But it is somewhat progressing in the right direction. Anyway, this is a nice backing track from one of my favorite channels (track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNpX3Fv4edI) in G minor. I started with mostly the G minor pentatonic, and then tried to expand into G Dorian, but I struggled a bit to make that 6th note of Dorian really work, ie. in this case the E. I probably should have focussed on playing that over the C chords in the progression, I still think too much about just the scales and too little in terms of chord tones. Anyway, enjoy my sloppy improv, haha.

I wrote this song a little over Month ago and finally felt ready to share it here. Mind you it's just a demo so pretty much everything except the chord progression is subject to change(improve) and yes that also means the lyrics. So, I kinda sorta forgot how some parts of the solo goes so I kinda went for something similar that fits at times. Also the shreddy bit towards the end always messes me up.because I don't really understand so my brain just goes 'do something'
